Gretchen Wilson - In Concert in Orlando Florida
Concert Review by: Connie Breeden, Editor/Owner
Not rain, wind, or hateful “tweets” prevented Gretchen Wilson from performing last Saturday at Seaworld Orlando. Responding to animal activists, and apparently a few irate fans, Wilson took to Twitter earlier in the day and wrote, “I did my research...can't wait to see my FANS on Saturday.”
Several Twitter responses to her tweet were ugly and angry causing Wilson to reply, “Wouldn't it be nice if this much effort could go into saving unborn babies?”
Despite all the controversy prior to her appearance, Wilson managed to put it all aside and her performance was nothing short of awesome! She remained onstage for about an hour and a half, performing for a stadium packed full of rain-soaked fans.
Some of the fans had on ponchos but others didn't, however, it didn't seem to matter that they were getting soaked when Wilson started singing. It was clear to anyone within ear shot that this audience was “Here For The Party”, they may have been “All Jacked Up” and why not? Especially if your mantra is “Work Hard, Play Harder”. As Wilson cranked out one hit tune after another, everyone in the stadium stood up and sang along.
She performed some songs from her newest album, Under The Covers, and then her band went on to play some rock n' roll. She gave us her rendition of "Barracuda", a hit song from the rock group Heart. No offense to Heart, but Wilson nailed it!
Wilson thanked her fans for coming out and sitting in the rain to see her. She closed out her show with "Home Wrecker" but it was her encore, "Redneck Woman", that brought everyone to their feet. As she left the stage she signed a few hats and handed out some of her guitar picks.
She is a real class act, a great entertainer and one heck of a singer who made it clear that the country music fans are her first priority.
