Luke Bryan - Strawberry Festival - Plant City, FL

By: Connie Breeden, Owner/ Editor
What better way to spend a Thursday evening in Plant City, Florida then at the Strawberry Festival seeing country music hunk Luke Bryan in concert. When the lights dimmed, the audience went crazy but I felt a raindrop or two and thought, "Oh no"! Just then we heard the sound of thunder coming from the speakers and out of a smoky haze, came Bryan, singing his hit song "Rain Is A good Thing". Umm, coincidence or not?
It wasn't my first time seeing Bryan but, for this show he really kicked it up a notch, so it was like no show I have seen of his before. He danced across the stage and entertained his fans with hit after hit from his third albumTailgate and Tan Lines which recently went platinum. He told the sold out venue, "I have enjoyed working with Jason Aldeen, but I am headlining my own show tonight, so this is pretty cool stuff".
The venue was packed full of fans of all ages and it was amazing to see everyone of all ages singing "Someone Else Calling You Baby". Bryan kept the fans on their feet, dancing and singing along with "Drinkin' Beer And Wastin' Bullets" and "Country Man" from his Doin' My Thing album before moving on to "All My Friends Say". He cranked it up with some heavy metal from Metacllia and AC/DC before slowing it down with his popular hit, "Do I", a song which he wrote with Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood of Lady Antebellum,
At the end of the night, I think every woman/girl in the audience became a country girl when he performed his big hit "Country Girl (Shake It For Me)", which recently went platinum. Okay so I admit I was one of those ladies. On March 5, wearing their signature baseball caps with the brims rolled and pulled down, songwriters Luke Bryan, Rhett Akins, Dallas Davidson and Ben Hayslip, collectively known as the "Peach Pickers", strolled into Nashville's Cabana restaurant to accept a torrent of awards and compliments for their latest joint achievement, Bryan's number one single, "I Don't Want This Night to End." This was the perfect song to end a perfect evening. By the way, when you feel a little rain drop now and then just remember, "Rain Is A Good Thing".
