Locked Down and Locked In…
Locked Down and Locked in....
By Sr. Staff Journalist, George Peden
It’s all I need. Outside the rain is falling. Hard. The street splashes to life with every
passing car. A perfect backdrop to the scene setting is an icy and howling wind, whistling like an eerie banshee. The mood is in one word, dark
To me. After a 14, 24 hour anxious ridden days of TV depression as the coronavirus taunts us all, I’m feeling a tad blue, trapped and overwhelmed. A lifelong ambition to grow a beard brings little joy. A look in the mirror shows a greying mass of unkempt bristles, as I’m reminded I look older than I am.
Time ticks away slowly. Which can be bad.
Maybe.
Right there on my TV ( computer or phone) comes the musical saviour. YouTube and Facebook.
With so much time, there’s a chance to dip into acts giving of their time with house-bound concerts. Magic.
My first find is a good ol’ gal with a wide smile and a beehive hairdo. Cadie Calhoun now calls Nashville home, after being born and raised in Hattiesburg, Mississipi. With a keen and polished confidence, honed out of church and the haunts of Lower Broadway, Calhoun is a dynamo of talent, humour and crossover pop and country.
This is a talent radio should not ignore.
She’s worth staying home for.
Check out her in-house performances at https://www.facebook.com/cadiecalhounmusic/
Now we’re all into hunkering down, there is time. Lots of time. Time to listen to the radio, and discover vibrant and exciting music. With a clear new country leaning, https://americascountry.us/ offers minimal advertising interruption, blending 90s up to modern times with a mix that soon becomes addictive.
Try it.
In case you missed it, several weeks back Keith Urban did a global concert from his musical warehouse. Personal and intimate, the concert covered a range of hits and others from Urban’s catalogue. Relive or see for the first time, it’s a performance not to be missed.
